Seminole Metal Finishing Inc. first opened its doors on October 1st, 1987 and incorporated on June 1, 1988. SMFI’s founder, Elliott Blackwelder, remains President of the company to this day, but now works with his son Jonathan in the hopes of turning over the company to him in the future. 


From the very beginning our focus has been to provide a quality product and customer service second to none. Our facility was custom built as an electroplating facility and has been our home since 1993.


We originally started out doing only Black Oxide over Steel and Stainless Steel, but over the years, we have added several other processes.


We now offer the following finishing processes:

  • Black Oxide on Steel
  • Black Oxide on Stainless Steel
  • Baking for Hydrogen Embrittlement Relief
  • Waxing for anti-galling

On the rare occasion that we cannot meet the needs of our customer we are always happy to help them find a plater that can. We have a very good working relationship with other Orlando area electroplaters.

Seminole Metal Finishing utilizes a continuous training program for all of our employees which enable them to serve our customers better by keeping rejects and overhead costs to a minimum. SMFI strives to achieve the very best quality and service for all of our customers. This website is designed to better educate our customers about the types of plating options that we offer, our plating procedures, and what you can expect upon completion of the plating process.


In order to provide our customer with the quickest turnaround time, we specialize in short run production and small lot jobs. We also have the capacity to work on bigger jobs. Over the years we have Electroless Nickel plated gantry frames for the Kennedy Space Center, Electroless Nickel plated window rings for a deep sea diving submarine, as well as many other specialty plating jobs
